Premier League side Newcastle United are interested in signing Birmingham City goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak, according to TalkSPORT.

Championship rivals Nottingham Forest are also said to be in the race for the 35-year-old who lost his starting spot following the arrival of David Stockdale earlier in the summer.

Kuszczak was a regular starter in the Blues goal in the last two seasons, making 79 Championship appearances after joining from Wolves.

However, his game time now looks to be limited with Harry Redknapp strengthening in between the sticks and the former Manchester United man is now playing second fiddle to Stockdale.

The departure of Adam Legzdins means that Blues are unlikely to be willing to let Kuszczak leave the club with the competition between him and Stockdale key for the side.
