Former Borussia Dortmund defender Emmanuel Mbende has signed for Birmingham City on a deal until the end of the season, the club have confirmed.

Vital Football Birmingham brought you the news in the last few days that Mbende had confirmed via his official social media page that he had signed a contract with the club.

Blues have since confirmed the news. They have said that the 19 year old, who stands at a massive six foot five inches, has signed on a development contract until the end of the season.

It is understood that he will play with the under 21s side for the foreseeable future, but manager Gary Rowett does hope that he will push his way into the frame for first team football.

The teenager spent seven years with German giants Dortmund and his move to Blues will be a massive learning curve for him.

Rowett confirmed that he is a very humble player who only want to do well and progress as quickly as he can.

The defender is now the fifth choice centre back at the club, with the likes of Michael Morrison, Jonathan Spector, Paul Robinson and Shane Lowry ahead of him.
