That man Troy Deeney struck again against Birmingham City to give Watford a 1-0 win at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night.

The striker scored in the first half of a game that was pretty much forgettable. It was the home side who had the best of the opening exchanges although there was not much to write home about.

The goal came when Fernando Forestieri found Deeney who lashed out at the ball and missed it at first but brought the ball back under control to fire home.

Watford continued to push for a second without giving Blues too much to think about in the way of danger and 1-0 was the score at the half time whistle.

Federico Macheda was the first Birmingham player to have a chance on goal in the second half, his effort was on target but Manuel Almunia in the Watford goal was equal to it.

Then at the other end Randolph was called upon to make a save from Forestieri who lashed in an effort on goal.

Birmingham tried hard in the closing stages to get back into the game, but the closest they came was when Will Packwood put an effort just wide of the upright.
