Birmingham City stretched their unbeaten run to 16 games to moved up to third in the table after they swept aside Barnsley at Oakwell on Tuesday.

Blues are now bang on form and the gulf in class showed as Chris Burke set the ball rolling with an early opening goal which took a deflection on the way in.

But even though the Tykes equalised on 18 minutes, there was no sign of tiredness in the Birmingham camp even though they were playing their 44th game of the season and Keith Fahey added a second for the Blues just before half time.

Substitute Nathan Redmond sealed the points for Chris Hughton’s side with a third goal after great work from Fahey and Burke.

The win puts Blues in third place just five points behind Southampton in second, but they do have a game in hand.
