Blues Sign Kuszczak


Birmingham City have completed the signing of 33 year-old goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak. The former Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion stopper becomes the second signing between the sticks in five days, after the capture of Adam Legzdins.

Polish international Kuszczak started his career at Hertha Berlin II before Gary Megson took him to the Hawthorns in July 2004. He went on to make a total of 35 appearances for the Baggies before a move to Manchester United, initially on loan. During his loan spell at Old Trafford, Kuszczak impressed and earned a permanent move. A loan spell followed at Watford before a two year spell at Brighton. Last season, he had a temporary stint at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he finished last season after making 13 appearances.

Having represneted Poland 11 times, Kuszczak comes with an impressive footballling CV. Known for his reflexes and shot-stopping ability, the Krosno Odrzanskie born ‘keeper will compete with Legzdins for the number one shirt. Kuszczak will be looking to catch the attention of Polish football`s scouts to earn a call-up for the first time since 2012.

As reported earlier on this site, Gary Rowett is looking to bring more players to the club after being in advanced talks with ‘two or three`.
