Everton striker James McFadden is expected to undergo a medical with Birmingham on Friday and, assuming it uncovers no problems, the player will join the club.

On Thursday afternoon, Everton announced they had accepted a bid from Birmingham City for the 24-year-old Scotland international – thought to be around £5.5million.

However, Sky Sports News then reported that McFadden ended talks without reaching an agreement and his agent Willie McKay has claimed another club have now expressed an interest.

But it now appears those reports were wide of the mark and McFadden will join in time for the clash with Chelsea at the weekend, along with left-back David Murphy, who completed his signing from Hibs on Thursday.
