Birmingham City are set to make a second offer for Sheffield United`s Che Adams. Their initial offer of around £1.2m was rejected by the Blades last week but Blues are preparing a counter offer.

With Blues` financial economy still fairly retrained, it is unclear exactly what the new offer entails. Blues may test the waters with a player-plus-cash package but Gary Rowett would prefer to get the deal done without losing one of his players.

Adams featured as a second half substitute in United`s 3-1 pre-season friendly win at Grimsby Town this weekend and their Assistant Manager Alan Knill refused to rule him out of contention for a game against Derby County on Wednesday evening.

Knill told the Sheffield Star “He`s still our player and, if he doesn`t go, then we want him to be able to play the way we want. So he has to play, he has to be involved”.

The Sheffield Star are also reporting that the Blades will make a third attempt to sign Bury striker Leon Clarke. Whether their interest in Clarke stems from Blues` pursuit of Adams is not known.
