Norwich City have been given permission to talk to Blues boss Chris Hughton about becoming the Canaries new manager.

Norwich lost their manager Paul Lambert to Aston Villa and now they have moved swiftly for a new man with Hughton being their number one target.

There was always a danger of Hughton leaving St Andrews should the team fail to gain promotion back to the Premier League and that`s just what happened, although they came close.

Birmingham have confirmed they have ‘reluctantly granted’ Hughton permission to speak to Norwich and have to accept that he could become the new manager at Carrow Road within the next couple of days.

Acting chairman Peter Pannu told Birmingham’s official website: ‘Chris is a great manager and deserves the opportunity to speak to Norwich which is why we have granted him permission to speak to them.’
