Blues Res spanked a young Bolton side with an outstanding display at soaking Damson Park.
Mario Melchiot and Julian Gray each played 45 mins as they put themselves back in the reckoning for the big Blackburn clash.

Blues went ahead on 11 minutes when a piledriver from Marcos Painter was well saved by Chris Howarth in the Bolton goal. The ball was sent back into the goal mouth by Birley on the right and Gray was on hand to side foot home.

A minute later it was Gray who put Allen in with some clever foot work but the young striker had to side step a couple of tackles before slotting home in style.

Melchiot and young Birley were creating much danger down the right hand side but it was Birley with an outstanding effort on 25 minutes which put Blues 3-0 up. The Young winger burst from the halfway line and released a left foot screamer which sale into the net with Howarth helpless.

Johan Smith pulled one back before half time with a crisp drive from the edge of the box.

Blues dominated during the second half but Bolton seemed manage to get a leg or a body in the way of several goal bound efforts. A superb cross from Sun Nicky Wright found Oliver Allen who brought a miracle save fron the Bolton keeper.

After eighty minutes Wright picked up a loose ball about 25 yards out and fired a net bulger past a now bemused Howarth. The ball was hit with such ferocity that it was still climing as the net bulged.
