Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett has revealed that the club turned down the chance to send young midfielder Reece Brown out on loan last week.

Speaking to the clubs official website, the link will be at the bottom, the former Burton Albion boss said that Blues had the opportunity to send Brown out to a ‘really good League One team’ but Rowett has other ideas.

At this moment in time, it looks like the Blues manager wants to try and keep the 20-year-old creative midfielder in and around the first team and with fellow youngster Charlee Adams being injured, you can’t really blame him.

Here is what Rowett had to say on the matter: ‘We had an opportunity to get him out on loan to a really good League One team last week,’ continued Rowett.

‘It was a debate for us, but I think at the minute our preference is to keep him around the First Team and see if we can utilise his ability.’
