It’s still over a decade since Blues last won at QPR, but today’s point represents a good one.

Gary Rowett’s men are now five games unbeaten. The draw at Loftus Road should be enough to keep Blues in the play-off places for the time being.

They’ll have the chance to improve on their points tally on Tuesday night when Preston North End visit St. Andrews. But that game has all the potential to be a banana skin – one Blues are just as capable of losing as they are of winning.

Lukas Jutkiewicz’s second goal in as many games put Blues ahead before a Steven Caulker header bought QPR level. After that, it could have gone either way.

A point at Loftus Road is not to be sniffed at. Currently, Blues are averaging just over 1.77 points per game which over the course of a season would give them 81 or 82, usually enough for a comfortable play off spot. Last season, fifth placed Derby County finished with 78 with Sheffield Wednesday in sixth on 74.

However, 37 games stand between Blues and an unlikely top six finish. Anything can happen between now and May.
