Diego Fabbrini looks set to become a Blues player in the next 24 hours. The Italian is currently undergoing a medical at St. Andrew`s.

The Watford playmaker is currently on loan at Middlesbrough and has been involved in a three-way transfer wrangle in recent days. Blues have agreed a fee with Watford, thought to be around £1.4m. Any move was dependent on Middlesbrough`s willingness to cancel the season-long loan deal early.

Fortunately for Gary Rowett, Middlesbrough have played ball and, pending a successful medical and loose ends being tied up, the 25 year-old looks to be heading for the second city.

Fabbrini had a successful, albeit brief, loan spell at St. Andrew`s late last season and will become the clubs most expensive transfer in five years if and when the deal is complete.
