First team coach Eric Black has said Blues will need to get off to a flying start in the Premiership in order to push for promotion.

He also told Colin Tattum in the Birmingham Mail that the physical demands are harder in the Championship:

‘It’s a long, hard slog in the Championship. ‘The physical demands on the players are great. We need to be as well prepared as we ever have been and start well. Getting off to a good start is important, it can set the tone.’

‘We know all too well what can happen if you begin poorly, especially at home. The other thing is that you have got to have a squad of players capable of playing 46 games a season. Not only do you have to look for those who can handle that when you bring new people in, but the type of preparation you do has to ensure they can cope with that.’

He also said he had ‘never experienced anything like it’ when referring to our relegation adding: ‘We all made mistakes and certain things conspired against us at certain times.’
