Ahead of Saturday’s fixture with league new comers Bristol City, Blues manager Gary Rowett has been talking about how he plans to utilise the loan market.

In amongst talking about how he plans to use the loan market, Rowett told the Birmingham Mail that City beat the Blues to the signings of two players on deadline day.

The first, Liam Moore, who is a player that Vital Birmingham have previously talked about, joined Steve Cotterill’s side on a six month loan deal.

Following Moore through the door on deadline day was Aston Villa defender Nathan Baker, another one who Rowett wanted to bring in.

However, Rowett told the press that Blues just couldn’t cope with the financial pressures of both deals.

Rowett said: “We made enquiries about Baker and Moore who both went to Bristol and the reality of it is that they paid twice as much as us for them so that`s the challenges we`ve got.”

Following the latest setback in his search for players to improve the squad, the former Burton Albion boss moved quickly to sign former trialist Shane Lowry.

The ex-Leyton Orient defender has joined the club on a deal which will see him stay at St.Andrews until the end of the season.

Blues fans, are you disappointed that we couldn’t sign Moore and Baker? Do you think they would have been better options than Shane Lowry? Let us know in the comment section down below!
