Blues make bid for former Aston Villa midfielder

Birmingham City have today made an offer for Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan according to Sky Sports.

The former Aston Villa midfielder was subject to a bid from Hull City earlier in the window but now it looks like he has taken the fancy of Blues boss Harry Redknapp.

Blues have been in the hunt for a midfielder for the last month of the transfer window, with attempts to sign several falling short of the mark.

And with a deal for Torino man Afriyie Acquah stumbling, Bannan is now seen as a quick option.

However, Sky Sports also report that the Owls are likely to reject the bid as they don’t want to sell him.
