Birmingham City helped Bolton recover from losing two games on the bounce by throwing away a goal lead at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday to end up 3-1 down.

Bolton were the better of the two sides even though it was Blues who took the lead on 11 minutes through a Nikola Zigic header after good work from Chris Burke.

That lead lasted barely 16 minutes before the home side were level when Marcos Alonso headed home after being set up by Tyrone Mears.

Bolton then took the lead when Kevin Davies and Lee Chung-Yong combined well before the South Korean latched onto a through ball and beat Jack Butland in the Blues goal.

With twelve minutes left on the clock, any hopes of an unlikely City comeback were dashed when Steve Caldwell handled in the area and Keith
Andrews buried the resulting spot kick.

And with three minutes left, Zigic was shown a second yellow card following a late tackle on Tim Ream.
