Blues linked with reported Aston Villa target

Birmingham City have today been linked with a possible loan move for Southampton striker Sam Gallagher according to the Birmingham Mail.

Blues writer Brian Dick writes that he understands that the club are considering a loan move for the highly rated 21-year-old.

However, Harry Redknapp isn’t the only one interested in the former Blackburn Rovers loanee.

It was reported last month that both Middlesbrough and local rivals Aston Villa were interested in a move for Gallagher, but a £7 million price tag seems to have put the pair off making a move for him.

The Saints striker made 47 appearances in total last season for Rovers, scoring 12 goals in all competitions and he is just one of a handful of forwards that Redknapp is believed to be looking at.
