Jack Storer planted himself firmly in Gary Rowett’s thoughts with the opening goal in tonight’s 2-0 win at Port Vale.

The 18 year-old former Stevenage striker netted his second first team goal of Blues’ pre-season campaign.

Blues have been trying in vein to add a striker to their ranks – tonight they have lodged a £1.7m for Che Adams – but Storer has given the Blues manager food for thought.

Storer was widely regarded as a player for the development squad this season but his first team involvement, and the impressive performances that have arrived with it, have made his case to be considered for the first team set up.

Paul Caddis scored a late penalty to wrap up victory in the feisty affair at Vale Park.
