Blues in the hunt for Newcastle striker

Birmingham City are one of three clubs in the race for Newcastle United striker Daryl Murphy, according to Lee Ryder of The Chronicle.

However, it looks to be Nottingham Forest who have stolen a march with a £2m offer for the 34-year-old.

Newcastle’s arch rivals Sunderland are also interested in the former Ipswich man who only arrived at St. James’ Park last summer.

He made just 15 Championship appearances and scored five goals for Newcastle in an injury-hit campaign.
