Blues in talks with former Villa man

Birmingham City are in talks with former Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion man Kieran Richardson over a move to St. Andrews.

The 31 year-old, who has been keeping fit by training with West Brom recently, was relegated with Villa last season and has since been released from the club. Blues manager Gary Rowett is keen on the player to provide competition for the left back berth, currently occupied by Jonathan Grounds.

It is understood that Blues are discussing the possibility of offering Richardson a one year contract.

The former England international made 35 appearances at Villa Park over the last two seasons as they were eventually condemned to relegation to the Championship. Prior to Villa, Richardson represented Fulham, Sunderland, West Brom and Manchester United and was capped eight times at senior level for England.
