Blues in Need of Home Comfort

Decisions, decisions. After the recent dour home performances came the enthralling win at Fulham. The system was the same, the players were the same, the only difference was the mentality of the opposition.

Blues seemingly struggle against opposition intent on frustrating them in their own backyard. Nottingham Forest, Rotherham, Wolves and Blackburn have all kept clean sheets at St. Andrew`s without too much trouble. Charlton Athletic, under the interim leadership of Karel Fraeye, cannot be blamed if they do exactly the same.

Gary Rowett has a big decision to make. Does he stick with the same formation that has served Blues so well away from home in the hope they can replicate that in B9? Or does he take a gamble and change the shape?

After the international break, the players should be reinvigorated. After a pulsating performance at Craven Cottage, it`d be a surprise if Rowett opted for the latter. After all, if it isn`t broken, why fix it?

With David Cotterill side lined for a month, Jacques Maghoma has a chance to continue his fine run of form. The Congo international has gained an understanding with Demarai Gray and his performances have been telling. And Jon Toral, who was man of the match at Fulham, could provide the spark that Blues have been lacking in their own back yard.

The only worry is the sharpness of Clayton Donaldson who has been away on international duty with Jamaica. The Don flies back to Birmingham 48 hours before the Addicks game but will be expected to lead the line once again.
