Birmingham had to settle for a disappointing draw after first, taking the lead in the first half.

Birmingham stuck with David Edgar at centre back despite his international commitments in midweek. New boy Brek Shea got his first start for the club on the wing behind a Donaldson and Thomas front two.

Blues first threatened through Brek Shea. He shot from distance but it was palmed away. Donaldson then picked up a rebound but shot low and wide.

Wes Thomas broke the deadlock after 37 minutes. He turned inside and fired into the net with a stinging shot. Following the goal, it actually brought down the net and there was a very long delay with 9 minutes of added time at the end of the first half.

At half time Birmingham went in as first half leaders.

It was a bright start to the second half for the home side. Shea flicked it narrowly over from a freekick. Donaldson then rippled the side netting with a whipped finish.

Alex Mowatt then tested Randolph with a great shot from distance. Lee Clark then introduced Demarai Gray to the game and he had an impressive impact. His shot was parried away away by the Leeds keeper.

Leeds then hit back and equalised. A poor clearance and plenty of space in the box allowed Alex Mowatt to finish into the far corner, 1-1.

Blues were again on the brink of conceding again. David Edgar cleared off the line for Lee Clark`s side.

Demarai Gray found himself booked for diving after appearing to be clipped in the box after a fantastic run beating three players on his way through. The player seemed to be obstructed although it was minimal contact.

Gray then burst through again after knocking the ball past two opponents but it was a fantastic one handed save to prevent a Blues winner.

The game finished a disappointing draw with both sides feeling they had periods of pressure that could have resulted in three points.
