Blues have Johnson bid accepted by Cardiff

Birmingham are set for contract talks with Roger Johnson after agreeing a fee with Cardiff for the highly rated defender.

The 26-year-old has been one of Alex McLeish`s number one targets this summer and now Cardiff have finally accepted a bid.

Johnson will now open negotiations with Blues.

Speaking earlier Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale admitted: ‘A fee of £5million, subject to how it’s paid, is a figure where we’d have to put it to Roger.

‘I’ve had informal feedback from Roger that he would like to talk to a Premier League side.’

Reports claim Birmingham will pay £2m up front.
