Birmingham have been handed fitness hope with updates on three centre backs that are all sidelined with injury.

Following the Sheffield Wednesday game it all looked very doom and gloom for Birmingham at the heart of defence. Michael Morrison rolled his ankle and consequently the panic ensued.

Morrison has been an integral part of Rowett’s new team and Blues fans were rightly worried about what may happen without him. But, Spector came in and remained strong, and then did so again against Norwich.

Well the update on Michael’s ankle is positive and he will be back within a matter of weeks. Although it has be stressed he won’t be rushed back. Meanwhile Spector remains in the team and may even give Morrison a fight to get back in.

Behind those on the pecking order is Will Packwood, a promising young American that could probably do with some game time. He returned to training this week and is available for Saturday.

Gavin Gunning, injured his knee very early on in the 3-1 home win over Cambridge United. He is yet to make an appearance for Blues in the league and has had a nightmare start in royal blue. He is now back running again after surgery and although he is some way off a return, it is positive news for the 24 year old.

All in all, as I stated a few days ago, Blues are a little stretched at the back in terms of numbers but we ought to give the player’s we have a chance to play.

Maybe Packwood would be better off out on loan and we bring one in for him, but Spector needs a chance and he is currently taking it. As far as I’m aware he is currently our biggest earner so I would want him to play or for him to possibly move on in order to use that extra money on another first team player.

Birmingham take on Fulham in their next match, they have scored in 75% of their last 20 home games and Blues will have to do well to be in the 25% that don’t concede.
