Earlier on Friday, it was confirmed that League One side Sheffield United had rejected a second bid from Birmingham City for their young striker Che Adams.

Although it was met with some anger from Blues fans, it could mean great things for a stand alone Bluenose who has hit fantastic form during the clubs preseason work out.

18-year-old Jack Storer has scored five goals in five games, including two for the first team against Forest Green Rovers and Port Vale, and the failed bid for Adams could potentially mean that his progression into the first team won’t be hindered by another young striker that would be ahead of him.

Yes, Blues do have Nicolai Brock-Madsen who is ahead of Storer but why the Dane being away at the Olympic Games, Gary Rowett may have to call upon the former Stevenage striker to ease the burden on Clayton Donaldson and James Vaughan.

As it stands, Storer is the most in form striker that we have on our books and he took to social media site Twitter this afternoon (Friday 29th) to confirm that he is in the squad for the game against Roda JC on Saturday afternoon.

He may not start the game, but it is likely that he will at least get another 25 – 30 minutes at St.Andrews and if he can continue with his current form then who knows, he might even be in the squad for the game against Cardiff City for the Sky Bet Championship opener next weekend, August 6th.

Some Blues fans would argue that bringing in Adams would be the much better option for us because he is somebody who can liven up the fans but when you place that sort of price tag on a youngster who has so much more to do in order to make it to the top of his game then he might not be what everyone is expecting.

Blues boss Rowett admitted that he would like to see how Storer handles the pressure of playing in front of a crowd of 20,000 people and in all honesty, I think he would be overwhelmed because of the excitement that would be built around him coming into the game.

However, despite what I think, it is very hard to ignore the fact that the teenager is in fine goal scoring form and like I said the other day, could he be the Championship’s Marcus Rashford?
