The Birmingham Mail are reporting that Blues are interested in taking ex-player and former fan favourite Craig Gardner on loan until the end of the season from West Bromwich Albion.
The 30-year-old featured 52 times for Blues between 2010-2011 and was part of the team that defeated Arsenal 2-1 at Wembley to win the 2011 League Cup.
He also scored the goal that sent Alex McLeish`s side to Wembley in the 3-1 semi-final second leg defeat of West Ham at St Andrews.
Gardner is currently struggling for game time at Albion under Tony Pulis but a move will only be on the cards if a replacement can be found for him.
A return to his boyhood club would be welcomed by Blues fans where he still remains firmly in their hearts following his exploits during his previous one-and-a-half year spell.

He would add some steel and energy plus the odd goal. Not a great passer of the ball but possibly better all round than what we have at the moment, and a better player now than he was last time. Certainly plays with passion and determination, although he is a bit of a hot head at times and picks up a few yellows and reds along the way.
I’d absolutely love this!!
