Blues end the week with good news from the EFL

|

Yesterday’s news that Birmingham City had been cleared by the EFL regarding a further points deduction was reassuring.

Add that to Kieftenbeld’s return to the squad and his contribution to a decent display at Leicester City on Wednesday night, was another plus. Result wise not so good but not unexpected. We competed and gave 100%.

We also had a few days of healthy debates on this site such as to whether Seddon would be a natural replacement for Pedersen should the Dane be sold for big money, should Blues stump up decent money to secure Scott Hogan from Villa and other footballing thoughts.

Yesterday, however, the spotlight fell on Ren and all that brought out headlines and derogatory quotes like ‘shambles’ etc. Also regurgitated news about his Wast Hills office and the ‘supposed’ reports of overseeing team selection.

Who really bothers with what goes on behind supposedly closed doors, so long as the team gets results, albeit at a steady rate. Our club will always court the wrong headlines at the drop of a hat – it always has, almost par for the course, and we more or less expect it at any given moment.

What I find quite sad, however, is the creeping in of another unsavoury element and it concerns a small number of commenters on this site. Vitriolic comments aimed at writers is not good and serves little purpose. Genuine criticism and suggested changing of attitudes is good and welcome, but the spilling over to a more toxic element is unhealthy for everyone.

Point made I think. Bit disappointing result today and again the inability to see off games. Second halves a real problem for us as defensively in this league we cannot cope at times. Really need a solid back four performance each game.
