Birmingham City are hoping to sign Arsenal youngster Dan Crowley on a loan deal, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 18 year-old began his footballing life at Aston Villa`s academy before Arsenal swooped for his services. And Blues boss Gary Rowett is working on a deal to bring him to St. Andrew`s.

Crowley is highly rated at the Emirates and has been likened to England star Jack Wilshere in his style of play.

In The Birmingham Mail, Brian Dick wrote – “If Wenger decides to allow Crowley out on loan to gain experience in the 2015-16 campaign Blues can expect to face competition from Premier League and Championship clubs”.

Coventry-born Crowley has represented Arsenal at youth level and boasts an impressive scoring record of 10 goals in 29 appearances.

Blues have a history of bedding young Arsenal players into Championship football. Former loanees Nicklas Bendtner, Fabrice Muamba and Seb Larsson all signed on loan deals from the Gunners (Muamba and Larsson eventually became permanent additions) and Rowett hopes to use that to his advantage when persuading Arsene Wenger to send him to the second city.

So far, Alex Jones, Jacques Maghoma, Adam Legzdins and Tomasz Kuszczak have arrived at St. Andrew`s as summer signings.
