Birmingham City have today been handed a boost in their pursuit of Crystal Palace winger Bakary Sako after reports emerged on social media site Twitter that the Premier League side were lining up a replacement for the Mali international.

Gianfranco Zola is looking to splash out around £4 million for the 28-year-old former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger and it looks like they could be about to get their man as the Eagles enter the race to sign Rennes left winger Paul-Georges Ntep.

The 24-year-old Cameroonian is out of contract in the summer and new Palace boss Sam Allardyce is keen to bolster his squad before allowing players to leave.

With Ntep being targeted, it could mean that Blues are in line to land Sako which would be a major boost for Zola who hasn’t had much go his way so far during his spell with the Midlands club.
