Blues and one other Championship club are in ‘advanced negotiations’ with Manchester United over a loan move for striker James Wilson.

The 20 year-old made 24 appearances whilst on loan at Brighton last season but struggled to nail down a starting place in the first eleven.

The deal being discussed is thought to be a season long loan giving Manchester United the option to recall the player in January.

It is understood that United will pay all of Wilson’s five figure weekly salary but want assurances that the player will be involved in the first team fold, which stands Blues in good stead.

Gary Rowett is openly looking for a centre forward to play off Clayton Donaldson or as part of a front three and has also been showing an interest in Hull City’s Sone Aluko.
