Blues Battle For David Weir

The Blues and the Baggies are nose to nose in the chase for Everton’s veteran centre half.

The 36 year old player is now a free agent after being released by the Merseyside club and has already held talks with both clubs, despite also being offered a further 12 month contract with Everton.

Talking on the player Steve Bruce said:

‘Defensively, look at Malky Mackay at Watford, Craig Short at Sheffield United, two of the promoted clubs, if you can get good experience and good pros in those positions, it’s vital.’
