While the international break left little to ponder in terms of Blues news, Gianfranco Zola had plenty of time to gather his troops and make plans for the trip to Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Blues travel to Portman Road on the back of two solid, if not spectacular, draws against Cardiff City and Newcastle United. The two points gained should offer Zola a foundation on which to build during the tough looking run-in which includes games against Gary Rowett’s Derby, Brighton, bottom placed Rotherham and a derby against Aston Villa.

Clayton Donaldson and Jacques Maghoma have had a week to return to fitness as they look to win their place in the starting elevenĀ  back – Zola’s options are widening.

Ipswich will represent another difficult clash – they’re probably one team who summarise the rigours of the Championship. Hopefully, Blues will be going there in a positive frame of mind, they’re certainly capable of bringing home three points as much as they’re capable of coming away with absolutely nothing.

Now is the time to pick up the points to preserve our place in the second tier. We don’t want a last day decider, as good as Bolton was.
