Birmingham City had agreed a fee with Brentford for Irish midfielder Alan Judge in January.

However, the proposed deal thought to be in the region of £2m, was cancelled by the club after their failure to adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations came to light.

The 29 year-old was set to link up with his former Griffin Park team mates Harlee Dean, Maxime Colin, and Jota, who signed from Brentford in the summer.

Judge has only appeared for The Bees on four occasions this season after being sidelined for more than 18 months with a broken leg picked up in April 2016.

His return to action came on 6 January as substitute in the second half of a 1-0 FA Cup third round defeat to former club Notts County.

Maxime Colin once said Judge ‘feels the football and he has a really good kick, good cross. He never gives up. He gives a lot of strength and power. He’s not afraid’.
