Help Harry Help Others is a brilliant local charity that not only is aiming to find a cure for cancer, in particular brain cancer, but also to help those families that are currently being effected by the condition.

An auction took place in order to raise money for the charity in which the prize was to spend the day with Gary Rowett and the first team. At the start, a lot of bids were coming in which was great to boost the price and try and get the most money raised for this incredible charity. As it got nearer the end, it was decided that 3 boys would accept the prize, as two of them were U11 players for Birmingham City.

Georgie Moseley founded the HHHO charity and could only find positive words to say in an interview for the official bcfc.com site. “It was my absolute honour…to accept a cheque for £1,000 which was raised through the Academy. We don`t receive any funding and rely on our own and supporters fundraising events to support families through Cancer.’ The whole community feel to our club is certainly very strong. I am honoured to be part of such a giving and kind club with supporters that always help to maintain the strong links we have with charities.

The young boys, Evans, Harper and Harris all thoroughly enjoyed the day partaking in first team training. Rowett joked that it was a shame they came on a Tuesday because that was fitness day for the first team! They also had a few shots at Big Tom in goal which I am sure would keep his fingers warm whilst we wait for the next game with is Bolton next Tuesday.

As an extra bonus, it also shows how well we are linking the academy and the first team. It has been noticeable under Rowett that the philosophy of the club and work ethic is being taught at all levels and this makes the transition between each rung of the ladder much easier. It is a credit to what the staff have done at Birmingham City to bridge the gap.
