Bluenoses Waiting In Anticipation

|

Anytime, any day now, like most Bluenoses, I am anticipating a flurry of incoming players to B9.

Exciting yes, as the feeling under the new guidance of Aitor Karanka and his now completed backroom staff, does ignite the imagination. For far too long we have been in a comatose state both on and off the pitch.

First through the door last week was George Friend who has been a great servant to Middlesbrough, and my opinion is that this player will be a 100% success at Blues. A good leader and an attack minded player but with a steady experienced head on him. So far so good.

Goalkeeper x2 is most likely on the list for next week, but with not many names being banded around. Providing Karanka can get a solid back four in place, then a couple of reliable ‘keepers is just fine without the search for any big names.

Depending on individual preferences, strikers will be eagerly looked for by most supporters, with hopefully successful past records. We have a few younger players coming through and that is encouraging, but we obviously need a couple of experienced pros to step in. Deeney and Shane Long would fit the bill.

What is really pleasing about the current situation at Blues is that most supporters are buying into the new Karanka era’ without getting too overexcited, with talk about possible league placings very much low key. Hopefully by the start of the new season we should be able to support the team on the terraces albeit in smaller numbers, and with the addition to the Championship of our near neighbours Coventry City, we have new fresh air to breathe.

A season of stability and hard working performances under Karanka’s first campaign will do nicely without the annual nervousness towards the end of the season.

I very much hope the anticipation is well-founded. Need something more than Karanka going round his old clubs but hopefully Friend is going to give us leadership on the field we badly need.

Really feel Karanka and his back room will make a big difference. Just feel we have a long awaited pro.set up at last.
