Blog: Marlon King’s Summer

|

Well as you know it’s been a cost cutting summer at Blues, we have already seen the likes of Fahey, Caldwell and Redmond leave. But what about the unwanted?

Well lets start with King, the media recently is mainly about King, why? Because he is actually not with the first team (neither is Lovenkrands). They are with the development squad and I totally agree with this idea; if they find transfers.

Why else? well his wages are understood (this isn’t fact, don’t take it as such) to be around £17,000 a week! and one more thing, the guy is being held for a hit and run we covered some weeks ago (we didn’t cover this because at the time, the news sources that reported it, I didn’t really trust as information set in stone).

The idea is that Clark and the team prepare without these players because they have been told by the club they can leave, why include them in pre-season when there are other players who will be needed for competitive games which would have to make way?

However, what happens when these players aren’t sold? They become a Zigic that’s what! I’m not going to speculate on what these players earn with exact figures, but it is far too much to be sat doing thing. I am guessing here, but they will be involved come the start of the season; should they not find a new club.

King was given a week off this week, to negotiate with 3 other Championship clubs, they were not disclosed (I don’t know why). However now I think it may be safe to say that he is being held over this hit and run, that these clubs are going to become frustrated with the lack of progress on the transfer.

It is close to the start of the season, King is likely to be demanding similar £17,000 a week wages with the reason that ‘hey look, you aren’t having to pay for me with a transfer fee, so my wages shouldn’t be a problem!’ so the clubs could well be losing patience.

Now this is all speculation, which is why I have written this as a blog, it is my opinion that we could well see King involved come Saturday (well not against Watford but you know what I mean).

He’ll move last minute after this whole mess is cleaned up, or we’ll keep him until January, in that time he’ll score some goals, demotivate our other strikers whilst they don’t get the game time they were promised and he’ll then leave once people know he’s available and they are more desperate half way through the term.
