In January 2006, a former non-league centre forward scored two goals for League One Brentford in a 2-1 FA Cup triumph against top flight Sunderland. Three days later, his ambition to play in the Premier League was made a reality after Steve Bruce bought him to Blues for half-a-million.

Dudley Junior (DJ) Campbell made his Blues debut as a substitute in their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal. Unfortunately, Campbell`s first stint in the Premiership didn`t last long as the club were relegated in May 2006.

The opening fixture of the Championship season saw Campbell open his goal scoring account at St. Andrew`s with a goal against newly promoted Colchester United, a game Blues went on to win 2-1.

That season was more of a success for Campbell who scored 12 goals in 20 starts after forcing his way back in Bruce`s team. Blues went on to win promotion back to the Premier League.

During the summer of 2007, Campbell was sold to Championship club Leicester City for a fee close to £2 million.

Born in the London borough of Hammersmith, Campbell celebrates his 34th Birthday today.

After starting his youth career at Aston Villa, Campbell played for 14 clubs throughout his career including Blackburn Rovers, QPR and Millwall, Campbell is a much travelled player. Most recently, he made nine appearances for Maidenhead United, scoring four, and has represented England at C level.
