Harry Redknapp has told the TalkSport that he intends to look at the loan market in a bid to improve his squad this summer. Birmingham do not have the huge budget some other Championship clubs have and it seems as though the Blues boss wants to enlist the help of young players from Premier League clubs.

The manager pointed to other clubs like Aston Villa as reasoning that a big budget would not guarantee success in the Championship.

An example of Tammy Abraham was used to make the point that there are some good players at top clubs that would benefit from playing in the Championship at the same time as improving Blues position. I recall there being a bit of hope Zola would bring in some Chelsea youngsters in January.

It was further revealed that Blues have already contacted targets at Premier League clubs in the hope of securing loan signings.

My thoughts are that Blues will not be the only club after top young talents from Premier League clubs. Given that so many players now in the Premier League found their feet in the division below.

Do Blues have a better chance of signing these sorts of players with Redknapp in charge? I believe so. The new manager certainly has a reputation for helping players improve and getting more out of people. This in itself might help put Blues ahead of the line for some youngsters.

Let us not forget, this kind of transfer policy was implemented by Steve Bruce at times and some of those players turned into cornerstones of the team. Bendtner, Larsson and Muamba come to mind.

What youngsters would you suggest Blues target?
