Birmingham City dusted themselves off from a 4-0 defeat to pile on the Christmas misery at Forest in a brilliant 3-1 away win.

Two goals from Clayton Donaldson finished off Forest after a storming performance from David Cotterill opened the scoring. It was all over in the space of 10-minutes before the interval.

Nottingham Forest now have just two wins in 17 games, Britt Assombalonga’s 91st-minute header was no more than a consolation goal.

Birmingham have six wins in 10 games since Gary Rowett has taken over and he has lifted them well away from the relegation zone.

You would be forgiven for mistaking the Blues for a promotion charging outfit from watching their recent results.

Meanwhile Forest just could not break Birmingham down yesterday. They had a lot of the ball, but just couldn’t forge a clear cut chance.

Birmingham now move onto the FA Cup and Blyth Spartans.
