Birmingham will be closer to full strength when they line up to face Reading today. Rowett has two returning strikers and more chance of playing Shinnie.

Wes Thomas has completed his suspension and is likely to return to the squad to fight for a place in the team. Nikola Zigic has also been given clearance by the Football League to play this weekend, he is most likely to feature from the bench for Birmingham.

Further back in midfielder, Birmingham will be hoping to welcome back the missed Andrew Shinnie. Shinnie missed the trip to Blackpool with an injured ankle.

Paul Robinson faces a late fitness test as he still awaits full recovery from a gash in his foot. The defender has six stitches at half time after having his foot opened up.

Guy Moussi has recovered from a thigh strain.

Gary Rowett said on bcfc.com, about Robinson

‘He’s fine physically, but it’s just if the gash opens up when he kicks the ball, because it’s right on the bone on his left foot. This week it’s been tight and sore and we’ve left him as long as we can but we’re hopeful he’ll train okay today.’

Gunning, Spector and Green remain long term injuries.
