Birmingham Still Waiting On Agreement To Sign England Under 20 International

|

The club’s attempts to sign Arsenal midfielder Joshua Da Silva are still being held up by issues relating to the size of the compensation package for the 19-year-old, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Garry Monk was asked about the player at yesterday’s pre-match press conference, but would only confirm that discussions are ongoing for the England Under 20 international

We can make one more signing before August 31st, in accordance with the EFL’s ruling on our club’s player registrations. Five more recruits, in addition to Kristian Pedersen, were permitted. Since then, Omar Bogle, Connor Mahoney, Lee Camp and Gary Gardner have arrived, likely making Da Silva the last summer signing.

However, Monk did say yesterday that we may still be in for another goalkeeper, which suggests we could re-consider our move for the Gunners youngster.

Da Silva is a defensive midfielder and with Gardner having arrived on a season-long loan from Aston Villa, the manager may feel that the club should focus on signing a player in a different position.
