Birmingham Sign 20 Year Old Midfielder On Free Transfer – Report

|

The club have signed former Melbourne Victory midfielder Cameron McGilp on a free transfer, according to FourFourTwo Australia reporter John Davidson.

The Scottish born Australian has been without a club since he left A-League side a few months ago, and he reportedly had a trial with us before being offered a contract.

We haven’t officially announced a deal for McGilp as of yet, but it’s likely the holding midfield player would join up with the Under 23 side rather than the senior squad due to his age and experience.

Last season, the 20-year-old managed just one appearance for Victory, coming on as a substitute in the 2-1 win over Shanghai SIPG in the final group match of the AFC Champions League.

McGilp can play either as a defensive midfielder or as a centre-back. He would become the club’s sixth summer signing after the likes of Kristian Pedersen, Omar Bogle, Connor Mahoney, Lee Camp and Gary Gardner.
