Birmingham Set to Reject Bid

Clayton Donaldson will not be sold during this transfer window despite reported interest from Yorkshire. Leeds United are rumored to be lining up a bid for the marksman, after he bagged 16 goals last season.

Leeds United may be targeting Donaldson as they are aware he has strong links to the area, and some of his family are big Leeds fans. Will this be enough to tempt the front man to move to the club?

Birmingham are standing by ready to reject any bids that come their way, having yet to strengthen their front line ahead of next weeks pre-season. It is understood that the club are unwilling to listen to any offers unless Clayton Donaldson asks to leave.

If a bid does come in then Leeds are either trying their hand in order to tempt Donaldson back to familiar surroundings or I would think they’ve asked his agent whether he would be interested in joining. So if they start to bid, its a 50/50 punt on whether he will leave.

What causes me to say that you ask, well, Adeyemi last year – the bid came in and Birmingham rejected the offer. Shortly after the player asked to leave and Blues hands’ were tied. Now Cardiff were a more attractive club at the time, but it is possible they had sent the feelers out before hand. Clubs don’t just bid for players unless their a much bigger than the selling party.

Donaldson seems happy at Birmingham, having only moved here 12 months ago – the striker is an ever present in Gary Rowett’s line up and in doing so won both Player’s and Supporter’s player of the year last season.

Birmingham City are not desperate for money, with a take over on the horizon (that can happen at any point in the next 24 months) and a new flow of supporting cash into the club, it seems the only way to take one of their players now is to offer a silly amount or unsettle the player.
