Birmingham Set To Lose Out In Battle For £4m Rated Keeper

|

The club look set to miss out on QPR goalkeeper Alex Smithies with Sky Sports News reporting that he is closing in on a move to Cardiff City.

Last month, it was reported by journalist Alan Nixon that we were considering the 28-year-old as a possible replacement for David Stockdale but the Bluebirds look to have stolen a march with a £4m bid.

The offer for the keeper has reportedly been accepted by QPR and it seems that a move to the Premier League is imminent.

We have yet to make a move for new number one this transfer window, and it’s likely because we haven’t been able to offload Stockdale yet.

The 32-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to Leeds but the Whites’ new manager Marcelo Bielsa has seemingly distanced the club from making many signings this summer.

The Argentinian coach was quoted as saying that the Yorkshire club were “not intending to bring too many new faces in,” although that doesn’t preclude a move for a new goalkeeper.
