Birmingham City are to break into transfer market in the form of a short term deal. Blues are left short at the back following an ankle injury to Michael Morrison.

Morrison rolled his ankle in the last match and is set to miss up to six weeks out with the injury. Although, the medical staff are still waiting for the swelling to subside.

An injury to Morrison could be terrible news for Birmingham, he has been an important player under Rowett. It is also a position that the manager strengthened as soon as he came in. So is he really happy with what he has there?

On the flip side, this is an opportunity for Spector, or the returning Packwood, to make their mark on the new manager. Spector did reasonably well against Wednesday and will need to build on that.

There is no rush for Birmingham, though. Rowett is comfortable using the loan market and insists the club have plenty of options there.

Jonathan Spector, recently back from injury, is set to come in to partner Paul Robinson after talking over positions with the manager.

Born in Arlingon Heights USA, Spector is 28 and has made 91 league appearances since joining Birmingham.
