Birmingham City have parted company with their manager Lee Clark after a long string of disappointing results.

The midlands club have been struggling for some time to muster up a respectable points tally at home, and as we reported a few days ago, over 55% of the last home games have ended in defeat.

Clark leaves Birmingham having overseen some promising developments in terms of young players coming through and also young talents from other clubs. But ultimately his failure to correct defensive issues has finally cost him his job.

Calls for the manager’s demise have been raging on for a number of weeks now, with a poll on Twitter ran by Vital Birmingham as going in at 104 for sacking him and just 19 opposed.

The club have released a statement indicating that assistant manager Steve Watson has also left the club at this time.

Birmingham have also confirmed that the search for a new manager is already under way and they are looking to appoint him in the very near future.

In the meantime Richard Beale is to take over the first team, along with Malcolm Crosby (Chief Scout) as caretaker managers.

Birmingham now will turn their focus to Blackburn in the Sky Bet Championship, with a large section of the supporters now very happy that something is set to change.

More on this as we get it.
