Birmingham Reportedly Set To Announce Their Second Summer Signing In ‘Next 24 Hours’

|

BCFCFollowers.com are reporting that the club are poised to announce the signing of Middlesbrough striker Ashley Fletcher “in the next 24 hours.”

We can only sign five players on loan or on a free transfer between now and August 31st, and considering the 22-year-old cost Boro £6.5m last summer, it’s surprising to hear that this would be a “permanent” deal. I would, therefore, take this with a large pinch of salt, unless it is a loan with an option to purchase agreement.

Garry Monk is a fan of the former Manchester United forward after having signed the player when he was Middlesbrough manager. However, he wasn’t in favour under Tony Pulis and moved to Sunderland on loan in January.

The Teessiders are also reportedly pursuing a deal for Ipswich’s Martyn Waghorn which indicates Fletcher is deemed surplus to requirements at the Riverside stadium.

If this deal does go through as quickly as BCFCFollowers say then it seems this move has been in the pipeline for a while. What do you think? Would Fletcher be a good signing? Let me know in the poll below:
