The club are interested in signing Cardiff City goalkeeper Lee Camp, according to WeAreBirmingham (via the Birmingham Mail).

Garry Monk has said that he wants to strengthen his options between the posts, and it looks as if the former QPR and Notts Forest keeper could be a player we are looking to recruit.

Camp has never played for Cardiff despite signing on a free transfer from Rotherham last summer. The 33-year-old spent the second half of the 2017/18 season at Sunderland. He played 12 games for the Black Cats before being replaced by Jason Steele for the last three games of the season.

The Northern Irish international would probably come in as number two to Connal Trueman, who had an excellent first team debut against Norwich on Saturday.

21-year-old Jake Weaver was on the bench for the game against the Canaries, and it seems we are seeking a more experienced player to provide competition, with both David Stockdale and Tomasz Kuszczak having been transfer listed by the club.

  • Please to god Blues, no. I trust Monk completely but this is really scraping the barrel. The guy is useless. I’ve watched him perform for other clubs and he is just not up to standard. Lee if you’re reading this, please don’t sign. Say you’ve made a mistake and we can all forget it nearly happened. I’d love to know what Stockdale has done to p*** Monk off as he surely can see that we can’t sell Stockdale, so you should bring him back into the fold rather than get Lee Camp in instead. One of those signings we’re allowed to make could be used better than be wasted on him. Sorry but this is an awful decision.

  • Nooooooooooooooo
I trust you Garry, implicitly BUT not Lee Camp
You just have to read what the Sunderland fans think of him,not one decent comment
I’ve watched him a number times over the years, poor keeper
I’d rather we stayed with the kids
