Birmingham City rejected an approach for youngster Demarai Gray from Crystal Palace yesterday.

Demarai Gray has broken onto the scene this season after a very impressive pre season for Lee Clark’s side.

The player impressed so much that it convinced the manager to not go back into the transfer market. Birmingham have just Mark Duffy and David Cotterill as out and out wingers at the club.

Other players such as Lee Novak do play wide roles for Birmingham. Gray is thought to have the required potential to reach the same heights as previous young talent.

Player’s such as Nathan Redmond and Jack Butland have left Birmingham in recent years after coming through the youth ranks. Birmingham up until now have simply not been able to reject any financial offers.

This summer saw Nikola Zigic and Chris Burke leave the club, allowing the club to relieve the financial pressures on the budget and now no longer have to sell any players.

Birmingham fans will be absolutely ecstatic that their club has finally been able to say NO to an offer for one of their prized academy graduates.

Gray can now focus on breaking into the first team on a regular basis, starting with the visit of Leeds to St Andrews, after the international break.
