Grasshoppers Zurich could be targeting a move for Birmingham forward Diego Fabbrini, according to TMW.
Sources have told the website that the Swiss side have put the Italian on a shortlist of three possible signings, but it is not known whether they will make a move for the 28-year-old.
A return to Italy was mooted with Serie B side Siena having been linked with a move for the attacking midfielder. However, with the Italian transfer window having closed, the player’s options have diminished.
Swiss club’s can sign players up until their deadline on Friday, while leagues such as Spain and Germany also have windows that shut that day.
It was reported earlier this month by the Birmingham Mail that Fabbrini is currently training alone after having started pre-season with the Under 23s. The club are likely very keen to offload him before the end of the month to reduce the club’s wage bill, especially if he will not be part of Garry Monk’s first team plans.
